Wow what a busy month May was we used our own made compost to fill up the loo so we can create our own bog garden. We also filled an old sink with plants and soil with special plants that donot need as much water they are called Alpines.
In the ‘pizza patch’ we have planted some basil seeds and tomato plants. We also planted some sweetcorn seeds to put in there once the plants have grown.
In the shed we found some buckets left from the beach trip last year, we decided they would look lovely on the fence so we got busy planting them up and attaching them. We think they look bright and beautiful what do you think?
In the big veg patch we have been busy weeding getting the soil ready for some news seeds, The children will be planting soon.
Mrs Hardy and some of the children have made a wig wam for the sweetpeas to grow up. We are all looking forward to them flowering.
This month we have been very busy, we started back with an Easter egg hunt. We found lots of chocolate eggs hidden around the garden. It was great fun. We then checked our planting and found that the beans lettuce and radishes had grown lot over the holidays.
The radishes had grown so much we could pull them up and EAT them we all tried them, some of us really liked the peppery flavour. Hopefully the beans and lettuce will keep growing aswell.
We prepared some more of the bed taking the weeds out and raking it over, in this patch we planted carrots. We also planted lots of flower seeds the garden is going to be an array of colour.
Each week we weed and water all the plants and seeds. The potatoes are growing well in the sacks we cant wait for them to be ready.
The exciting news is that there is a family of birds nesting in one of our bird boxes.

WOW! What a busy time we have had at Gardening Club. We started the year by making our very own bird boxes. We used hammers, nails, teamwork and lots of concentration. last year we had a family of Blue-tits nesting in an old box so we hope these boxes will encourage many more birds to visit our garden.
The boxes are now hanging in the woods. There is a photo on here so you can see what we made.
Also to encourage the birds to visit we made some bird feeders using sunflower seeds and apples with the cores removed so we can hang them from the trees, we hope the birds find them tasty!

Preparing the beds for broad beans and radishes
As its cold and wet outside we have bee keeping busy with some indoor activities. In the last few weeks we have been making things to sell at the PTA Christmas Fayre. we will use the money to purchase things for Gardening club to use the children will decide what this might be.
We painted some plant pots and planted daffodil bulbs in them. They will grow and flower in the spring. Mrs Hardy had some teasels which we decorated with ribbon and glitter. The strawberries in our bed had produced some runners which we potted up and sold.
Using tissue paper we decorated some jam jars some we sold and some we used in our last week before the holidays (see the next blog).
Some of the children were able to help run the stall they were amazing.
The total we made was £22 thank you for your support.
